ABOUT THE PROJECT

Long-distance relationships have become a widespread phenomenon throughout the world. With the rise of international students and overseas jobs, many find themselves navigating the challenges of maintaining connections through calls and texts alone. Maintaining a vibrant and intimate long-distance relationship can sometimes be frustrating. This app is specifically designed for couples facing these challenges, offering a variety of ways to keep the relationship fresh, transparent, and exciting.

RESEARCH

As the technology continue to grow, internet has become a new reality and it is nothing new for us to meet our new lover from the internet, but sometimes inter- net can’t compensate distance, which can be hard for couple to maintain a rela- tionship due to lack of communication in reality.

Breaking up is the most heart breaking situation for couples, according to this diagram from Standford University, unmarried couples regardless of sex, The break-up rate drop significantly after 5 years, and for married couples, the break- up rate is farely low no matter the years of relationship. This indicates that having a relationship require a crucial ingridient from both sides - “Commitment“. Having similar goals in life and pursue it as partners.

I started by thinking of what are the components for maintaining a healthy rela- tionship. Maybe there are some universal code for bonding two person togath- er not only just fall in love, but also striving for a brighter future. According to psychotherapist - Michael J. Formica, Transparency, Communication, Excitment, Humor, Respect and Sharing Responsibility, are the crucial parts to comprise a healthy realtionship.

Baed on previous research, I came with ideas of intergrating transparancy, trust, care, excitment and memory into one app. It’s a journal based application, be- cause I believe that memories are the crucial fundation of human life. Sometimes words do more impact than talking, and can reorganize our thoughts into a more delegect form. On top of that, this application provide different kinds of small perk for partners to document, engage each other in a very fun way.
